  • #3 Empowerment Theme @ Pohss Studio : When a Breaking Point with Your Ageing Body Calls You to Reconnect to Your Body’s Innate Soul-Level Power

There comes a point in life when we realise our bodies are no longer what they once were ~ and while this realisation can stir up discomfort, it’s actually an invitation for growth. The aches, the weight changes, the shifting appearance: these are opportunities to get really  honest with ourselves about how we’ve attached our identity to our bodies. Often, we unknowingly weave stories about who we are, based on how we look or what we can do. But these stories can hold us back, limiting us in ways we may not even recognise. Society has conditioned us all to define our worth by how our bodies look—its size, shape, and how "sexy" it is. This framework of external validation creates a fear of aging, making us see it as a sign of weakness or decline. I’ve been there, and I’m in the midst of it now. My body is changing, clothes no longer fit the same, and it’s forced me to reflect on how we value ourselves based on appearance rather than recognising our bodies for what they’re truly capable of. It's called me to reevaluate my approach to strength and my body's fuel needs. It’s easy to fall into the comparison trap, longing for the ease, flexibility, and strength of our younger selves. Yes, youth may have provided more physical ease, but we often took it for granted, losing touch with the deeper power within us. As our bodies change, we are given a powerful opportunity to reassess, to truly appreciate what our bodies are still capable of. This shift in perspective is the key to unlocking our ability to work with  our bodies, nourishing them in the way they need and allowing them to thrive in new ways. Now gets to be the time to stop giving up on yourself. To stop focusing on what your body can't  do and start honouring what it can : with all its beauty, strength, and wisdom. Ageing is not a decline; it’s an evolution of your unique beauty, resilience, and wisdom. We can choose to honour every curve, wrinkle, and heartbeat as chapters in your story, each offering an invitation to reconnect with your body and rediscover the soul-deep power within. So, we ask you: How can you rewrite the story of what your body can't  do, or how it may look, and instead embrace the frequency of loving it for all it can  do? How can you step into full ownership of your body: nourishing it, honouring it, and connecting with it, no matter what society’s standards say? (or the bitch in your head? ) Embody your power, your way, from today.   This is an active choice we get to make every day. And it’s one of the core themes we’re embracing at Pohss Studio ~empowerment through honouring our bodies and their incredible capabilities. Let us know your thoughts below x

  • #2 Empowerment theme @ Pohss Studio: SELF-CONNECTION & COURAGE over confidence

Let’s dive into a topic that’s bound to spark a thought or two. How many times have you heard, “You just need to be more confident,”  or wondered, “How are they so confident?”  Society glorifies confidence, but here’s the thing: confidence isn’t the key. Self-connection and courage are. People often label me as confident. While I may appear that way, I wouldn’t always call myself confident. Courageous, though? That’s a word I’ve come to own. Five years ago, I wouldn’t have. Back then, courage wasn’t something I consciously embodied,it was more of an innocent, ambitious drive to try things, often without fully grasping what they entailed. I used to operate on autopilot, letting ego-fueled confidence drive me through challenges. But as I’ve grown, I’ve realized that true courage comes from something deeper: self-connection. The more I’ve tuned into myself understanding my fears, desires, and boundaries ~ the more I’ve been able to step into situations that challenge me. Courage doesn’t mean fearlessness; it means showing up anyway. It’s about grounding, being aware of what you need, and trusting yourself enough to go for it. This practice has built something invaluable: self-trust.  Every time I’ve faced my fears, I’ve added a little more trust to my internal bank. With each challenge, I’ve learned, grown, and strengthened my belief in myself. Over time, this commitment to showing up has also built resilience and self-belief. Now, you might argue that this is how confidence is built and you’re not wrong. But here’s the catch: it starts with self-connection  and a willingness to embrace the outcome, whatever it may be. Confidence often gets tied to wins and achievements, but real growth happens when you embrace all  outcomes: the good, the bad, and the unexpected. By surrendering to the process and letting go of expectations, I’ve found more courage to follow my heart and trust in my ability to navigate life’s twists and turns. Courage shows me what I’m capable of. Self-connection anchors me to my courage. And together, they pave the way for authentic confidence. Confidence isn’t something to chase ~it’s what emerges when you reconnect with yourself. Through practices like movement and dance, I’ve found a bridge back to my essence. Dance is where I strip away the noise, reconnect with my core, and empower myself to move fearlessly. Here’s a thought: Courage feels real, raw, and grounding, while confidence can sometimes feel performative, like playing a role. They’re different muscles to flex. And in today’s world, especially for younger generations, we need to prioritise self-connection  and courage  to foster resilience and self-trust. So, I’ll leave you with this: Where in your life are you courageous? How does it feel to act with courage? Confidence may not land for everyone, but courage and self-connection? That’s a universal pohssibility. Love to hear your thoughts : share below. 💛

  • #1 Empowerment theme @ Pohss Studio: The WILLINGNESS to Be Seen, Be Authentically you and embrace your Cringe.

Embodied Beats Blog #1 We’re kicking off our Embodied Beats blog by diving into one of the five core themes of empowerment at Pohss Studio: Empowerment at Pohss starts with one bold move: stepping into the spotlight as your raw, unfiltered self. We embrace it all, quirks, imperfections, and even the moments that feel a little “cringe.” Why? Because those moments are gateways to true liberation. Want to embody sexy, strength, and confidence? Lean into the discomfort first. It might sound counterintuitive, but cringe is powerful. It’s your permission slip to move through vulnerability into authenticity. At Pohss Studio, empowerment isn’t about perfect choreography; it’s about being willing to be fully seen, unapologetically YOU. Lessons From the Dancefloor When Pohss Studio began as a mobile dance floor, I thought my moves would naturally become polished and flawless over time. While my dancing has improved in its own quirky way, the real transformation has been in my ability to let myself be seen. From Instagram Lives during lockdown to leading groups of 50+ people, from dancing in bathers at hot springs to sweating it out at wineries, beaches, and parks—I’ve shown up in every raw, real, and messy moment. And guess what? The untrained dancer I once thought was my weakness has become my superpower. It makes me relatable. It makes me real. And it gives others permission to do the same. This isn’t about perfect execution; it’s about presence. At Pohss Studio, we create unstructured spaces where every moment is felt and expressed authentically. It’s about leaning into the unknown, committing to the moment, and showing up as your truest self. Embracing the “Cringe” Want to feel sexy, liberated, and deeply connected to your body? Start by embracing the awkward, the imperfect, the “daggy” dancer within. Cringe isn’t a flaw—it’s a clearing process. The ego loves to label things as uncool or unworthy, but your true essence? It’s beyond labels. It’s free, flowing, and powerful. I’ve been there, criticizing myself, wondering if I’m “too much,” questioning what people think about this wild woman moving unapologetically. Trust me, there’s nothing like attempting a TikTok dance in your late 30s in front of a crowd of kids and not nailing it. But every time I’ve leaned into the cringe, I’ve found freedom. Vulnerability is a bridge to authenticity, and like any muscle, it gets stronger the more you flex it. Pohss Studio provides the space to feel, embody, and move through vulnerability without words—breaking through limits and discovering your flow of realness. Authenticity is Attractive Here’s the truth: authenticity is magnetic. No one can replicate your essence. The dancefloor becomes your mirror, reflecting not just what others see, but what you’ve hidden from yourself. Often, it’s not the fear of others’ judgment holding us back—it’s the fear of facing ourselves. At Pohss Studio, we guide you through that fear. The light, the shadow, the cringe ~ it’s all part of the magic that makes you, YOU. Empowerment in Motion Ready to be seen? To show up authentically, even if it feels a little uncomfortable? That’s how we move with empowerment at Pohss Studio through beats, play, and discovering your true moves. The first step? Willingness. We provide the space and permission, but the willingness to discover, own, and empower yourself? That’s up to you and it’s yours for the taking. So, be bold. No need to hold back. The path to being seen and seeing yourself in a moving way, BEGINS ON THE DISCO DANCEFLOOR 🪩
